Ezy Meat »Rockin' the Colosseum« LP 15,- Euro
Nach »Not for Wimps« von 1984 und
»Rock your Brains« von 1986 ist »Rockin' the
Colosseum« die dritte Vinyl-Veröffentlichung der
nordirischen N.W.O.B.H.M.-Legende EZY MEAT. Die LP (140 g Vinyl) ist
auf 500 Stück limitiert und wird nicht als CD erscheinen. Das
Coverartwork wurde von David Neckenig angefertigt. Die Platte hat
eine Spielzeit von knapp 40 Minuten, die sieben Songs stammen direkt
und ohne Overdubs von einer Soundboard-Aufnahme vom "Wilmar House
Hotel", Newcastle, Irland, im Mai 1985 (re-mastered von Peter
Neuber). Drei der sieben Kompositionen gibt es auf keinem anderen
Tonträger der Band, nämlich "Lady", "Rock it out" und "D.A.
Blues": EZY MEAT sind ein sicherer Tip für die Anhänger von
Acts wie Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher oder Sweet Savage.
Together with Sweet Savage from Belfast, Ezy Meat
were one of the very few Northern Irish bands of the famed New Wave
of British Heavy Metal period. Their two self-financed albums on
Electric Storm Records (»Not for Wimps« from 1984 and
»Rock your Brains« two years later) are two higly
collectable pieces of vinyl (selling for around 60 British Pounds
each). In 2001, Iron Pages Records released »Not for Wimps«
on CD along with six unreleased extra tracks. The new »Rockin'
the Colosseum« album is a live recording from 1985 (carefully
re-mastered by Peter Neuber of Born from Pain fame) including three
totally unreleased numbers ("Rock it out", "Lady" and the Lizzy-ish
"D.A. Blues").

Wenn eine Band zur falschen Zeit am richtigen
Ort war, dann ohne Zweifel die Berliner Criminal Justice! Weder die
weit fortgeschrittenen Verhandlungen mit Noise Records noch mit
Roadrunner brachten letztlich den erhofften Plattenvertrag.
Frustriert löste sich die Band auf, von keinem geringeren als
Harris Johns im Berliner Musiclab produzierte Speed Metal-Perlen wie
"White Slavery" oder "Schizophrenia" schienen dazu verdammt zu sein,
für immer und ewig im Archiv zu verstauben...
Bis zum heutigen Tage jedenfalls. Aus alter
Verbundenheit zu Criminal Justice nahm sich Harris Johns vor einigen
Monaten Zeit, das knapp 40minütige Songmaterial eigens für
die vorliegende Vinyl-Erstveröffentlichung zu re-mastern. Die
Mühe hat sich gelohnt...

OVERKILL-Stil, befinden sich auf dem Tape, wobei vor allem
auffällt, daß die Stücke trotz der hohen
Geschwindigkeit klare Melody-Lines haben und die Musiker ihr Handwerk

Right place, wrong time, if this slogan was true for
any band, then it was for Criminal Justice from Berlin! Criminal
Justice negotiated with both, Noise and Roadrunner, but in the end
both deals fell through. With frustration setting in, the band
disbanded. Precious Speed Metal jewels like "White Slavery" oder
"Schizophrenia", produced by no other than Musiclab boss Harris
Johns, were doomed to gather dust in the archives of the band. Until
now! Harris Johns himself has re-mastered the 40+ minutes of music
for the vinyl-only release.

high speed, the material possesses crystal clear melody lines, one of

Overdrive »On Wizard Ridge«
Overdrive gehörten zu den ganz
frühen Bands der NWoBHM, schon 1977 gegründet.
Dies hört man dem Material auch an . Und als der HM auf
dem Kontinent so langsam zu rollen begann, da gab es die
Engländer schon nicht mehr. Auch eine kurze Re-Union
Ende der Achtziger bis Anfang der Neunziger verlief im
Sande. Für Fans des Insel-Sounds gibt es das gesammelte

Warrior »Same«
Bei dieser Veröffentlichung auf Obscure
NWOBHM Releases aus Griechenland handelt es sich um die Band
Warrior aus Kent, die in den frühen 80ern eine extrem
seltene 10" namens "Don't let it show" herausgebracht hat.

Hammerhead proved with their highly
collectable »Time will tell« single that they were
one of the best acts of the N.W.O.B.H.M. Their outstanding
number, however, appeared on a compilation called »It's
unheard of«, the song "Lochinvar" featured the ex
Necromandus singer on vocals. This CD also contains six
further demo tracks.

Iron Heart »Archives«
Als Spät-NWoBHM-Band widerfuhr Iron
Heart ein unverdientes Schicksal. Von Puristen
mißachtet und von anderen übersehen, war die 88er
EP eher ein Geheimtip. Nun sind die vier Songs erstmals auf
CD erhältlich. Leider nur mit einem kümmerlichen
Bonustrack zu einer Mini-CD aufgepeppt.
